JAMALPUR, Feb 1, 2026 (BSS) – Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman today pledged that if elected, government employees' salaries will be determined by their qualifications, duty, and responsibility, emphasizing fairness and meritocracy in public service.

“We will not provide equal salaries; instead, we will determine salaries based on respect for their qualifications and responsibilities," he told a rally this afternoon at the Shinghajani Bohumukhi High School field in Jamalpur.

Dr Shafiqur said, “The vital roles played by the police, who work tirelessly round the clock to protect citizens, should not be the same as that of ordinary employees who work for eight hours.”

“Comparing the police to ordinary workers, who work only eight-hour shifts, was unjust. We will ensure fairness and uphold justice when determining salaries based on duty,” he added.

Jamaat Chief also underscored the importance of mutual support in building a just and unified country, calling for sincere cooperation from all citizens without any political bias.

“The country’s military and police, who have sworn to protect the nation, should never be compared with any other profession, highlighting their commitment to safeguarding every inch of Bangladesh’s land,” he said.

Reflecting on the devastating floods of May 2022, he shared how he visited the affected areas in Jamalpur and stood beside the victims. “We were with the people when disaster struck, while the government remained indifferent,” he stated, stressing the importance of serving the people with compassion and commitment.

Dr. Shafiqur also reiterated his party’s promises to address long-standing issues such as the establishment of special economic zones, flood prevention measures, and the creation of job opportunities for women.

He assured the public that their taxes would be used exclusively for public welfare, not for corruption or mismanagement.
“We envision a society where all citizens’ rights are respected, regardless of religion, ethnicity, or background. We want to create a Bangladesh where unity, justice, and equality prevail. We will not allow division,” Dr. Rahman said, calling for the empowerment of youth through employment opportunities and social justice.

He ended his speech with a firm commitment to protect the honour and safety of mothers, ensuring they are respected and their contributions valued. “We will not tolerate any insult towards our mothers. We stand by their side, and we will ensure their security,” he concluded.

Dr. Rahman reaffirmed his promise to build a peaceful, humane, and prosperous Bangladesh, driven by justice, equality, and unity, with the help of almighty Allah.
