DHAKA, Feb 01, 2026 (BSS)- BNP candidate for Dhaka-16 constituency Aminul Haque has said gas connection for household use were terminated by the previous government in the interest of a particular cylinder gas businesses.
“If elected, this syndicate will be dismantled, and gas connections will be given in every house,” he said during a public outreach programme in Mirpur-11 and neighborhoods.
As he began his campaign from Mirpur-11 in the morning, local residents welcomed him with flowers.
Aminul Haque handed out leaflets detailing his future action plans and exchanged greetings with the general public.
During his interaction with journalists at the public gathering, Aminul Haque identified the gas crisis as the prime problem of the area.
"The gas crisis is severe across the country now. A syndicate group has artificially created this crisis to make profit from their cylinder businesses,” he said.
“We have a plan. If we can form the government, we will prioritize breaking this syndicate and ensure gas connections in every household," he added.
In response to a question about the election environment, he said, "Attempts are being made to create an unstable environment by provocation in the election field.
“I have instructed my party workers to remain calm. However, if anyone tries to create chaos, it will be firmly negotiated," he said.
Aminul Haque said, "I am hearing that photos of NID cards and bKash numbers are being collected in various places, including the slums in Taltola. NID cards or photos have no relation with voting. This is a deep conspiracy. We are making people aware about this matter and have already informed the Election Commission."
At this time, he pledged to stand by the people in the fight to protect voting rights in the days to come.
