DHAKA, Feb 1, 2026 (BSS) - The Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh General Waker-Uz-Zaman today put special emphasis on performing duties through professionalism, impartiality, discipline, patience and citizen-friendly behavior in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Election and Referendum.
He came up with this statement while visiting Mymensingh prior to the upcoming national polls slated for February 12, 2026, said a release of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate this afternoon.
The Army Chief exchanged views with senior military officials, members of the law enforcement agencies and civil administration officials at the conference room of Mymensingh City Corporation.
During the view-exchange-meeting, inter-institutional coordination and overall security management issues were discussed to hold a free, fair and peaceful general poll, it said.
As part of the overall activities of the army personnel deployed under the 'In Aid to the Civil Power', the Army Chief provided necessary guidance also during his visit, according to the ISPR release.
Subsequently, General Waker laid the foundation stone of the Olympic Village at Trishal here and also took part in a board meeting of the Olympic Association, it added.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Army Training and Doctrine Command (ARTDOC), Engineer-in-Chief (E-in-C) of the Army, GOC of the 19 Infantry Division and Area Commander of the Ghatail Area, Director General of National Telecommunication Monitoring Center (NTMC), Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and senior military officers from the Army Headquarters and Ghatail area, Mymensingh Divisional Commissioner, senior officers of the civil administration and law enforcement agencies, and representatives of various media outlets were present, among others, on the occasion.
