DAUDKANDI, Jan 31, 2026 (BSS) – Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman today said his party has full confidence in the people, expressing hope that the oppressed people of the country will take the right decision in the upcoming national election on February 12.

“We want everyone to move forward through democratic means, abiding by rules and regulations, and respecting one another. We have full faith in the people. Insha’Allah, the oppressed people will take the right decision on February 12,” he said while addressing an election rally in Daudkandi, Cumilla.

Jamaat Ameer said a society that respects mothers is loved by Almighty Allah, while a society that fails to show such respect loses Allah’s mercy. Referring to recent incidents during election campaign, he said in some areas mothers and sisters are being subjected to extreme humiliation, which is unimaginable in a civilized society.

He alleged that in some places provocative and offensive remarks are being made against women wearing hijab or niqab. “Those who can behave like this with mothers before the election, it is easy to understand what they may do if they come to power,” he said.

Dr Shafiqur Rahman said that such attitudes send a clear message about the future. “Just as the direction of the sun at sunrise gives an idea of how the day will go, these actions indicate what kind of future they want to impose,” he added, expressing concern over women’s safety.

Calling upon the people, he urged everyone to learn to respect women, saying that respect for mothers and sisters bring dignity and honour from Allah. Addressing women, he said they should confidently assert their rights and dignity, stressing that mothers who give birth to generations should never bow their heads before injustice.

Jamaat Ameer said if such misconduct continues, people will not remain silent spectators, but clarified that Jamaat-e-Islami does not want conflict or disorder. “We believe in peaceful, democratic processes and respect for all,” he said.
Referring to the referendum, he said it is an opportunity to replace the old discriminatory system for  just and humane Bangladesh. He added that the election would be the first vote for reforms aimed at building a corruption-free country.

Dr Shafiqur Rahman also said Jamaat-e-Islami is not alone in this effort, noting that 11 political parties have united to build an inclusive Bangladesh where people of all religions, opinions and backgrounds can live with justice and dignity. “Wherever candidates have been nominated by the alliance, we will all work together for them, Insha’Allah,” he said.

The Jamaat Ameer prayed for divine guidance to establish justice and fairness in the country and urged people to participate peacefully in the election, placing their trust in Almighty Allah.
