Training workshop held for presiding and polling officers in Bagerhat

BAGERHAT, Jan 30, 2026 (BSS) - A day-long training workshop for presiding officers, assistant presiding officers and polling officers was held in Kachua upazila of Bagerhat district ahead of national parliamentary election and referendum.

The workshop, held at Government Women's Degree College in Kachua, was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate and Returning Officer Golam Md. Baten.

Addressing the participants, the Deputy Commissioner stressed that election officers must perform their duties with professionalism, impartiality and honesty to ensure the election is conducted in a free, fair and transparent manner.

He urged all election-related officials to strictly follow the election law, rules and code of conduct to maintain law and order and overall security at polling stations. 

He also warned that no irregularities or disruptions in the voting process would be tolerated, highlighting the critical role of election officials in safeguarding voters' rights.

Superintendent of Police Muhammad Hasan Chowdhury, District Election Officer Muhammad Abu Ansar, and Officer-in-Charge of Kachua Police Station Muhammad Shafiqul Islam were present as special guests.

The workshop featured sessions conducted by Kachua Upazila Election Officer Nazma Khanam, Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Rabindranath Mondal, Agricultural Extension Officer Sheikh Naimur Rashid Likhon, and election officers from Bagerhat Sadar, Sharankhola, Morelganj, Fakirhat, Mollahat, Chitalmari, and Mongla Upazilas.

The training covered voting procedures, allocation of responsibilities, handling law and order situations, and election regulations in detail.
