MUNSHIGANJ, Jan 28, 2026 (BSS) - An imam conference was held in Munshiganj on Wednesday to create awareness among the voters on the referendum and general election scheduled on February 12.
The district-level conference took place at the Collectorate Grounds under the initiative of the district administration. Deputy Commissioner Syeda Nurmahal Ashrafi attended the event as the chief guest while Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Muhammad Musabberul Islam presided over.
Superintendent of Police Md. Menhazul Alam and Civil Surgeon Dr. Kamrul Jamaddar were present as special guests.
Deputy Director of the Islamic Foundation Md. Sahabuddin delivered the welcome address.
It was addressed, among others, Maulana Mahbubur Rahman Salehi, President of the National Imam Association, Maulana Mahbubur Rahman, Principal of Munshiganj Adarsh Madrasa, Maulana Abrarul Haque Hatemi, Khatib of the Town Jame Mosque and Maulana Abu Zafar, Principal of Panchasar Daruchhunnah Fazil Madrasa.
Addressing the conference, Deputy Commissioner Syeda Nurmahal Ashrafi said that all polling stations have been brought under CCTV surveillance to ensure a transparent and fair voting process. She added that necessary law enforcement agencies and executive magistrates would be deployed to maintain law and order during the National Assembly elections and referendum.
She urged the imams to play an active role in motivating people to participate in the voting process and exercise their democratic rights.
