SATKHIRA, Jan 27, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur  Rahman today vowed that if his party gets the opportunity to form the  government, there will be no compromise, mercy, or forgiveness in recovering  looted public wealth, warning that those who siphoned off national resources  would be brought to justice.

"Some political criminals and powerful groups have plundered public resources  and siphoned them off abroad. Around Taka 28 lakh crore has been laundered  abroad, for which documented evidence exists, while there is no account of  the undocumented money," he told a public rally organised by district Jamaat  at the Satkhira Government High School ground today.

Dr. Rahman said, "If Allah grants us the mandate through your votes, no  'educated thief' will be able to steal a single penny of the people's  wealth," he said, adding that governance would be based on consultation with  the people, not decisions imposed from above.

He said the future direction of governance must be made clear now. "Once the  government is formed, no one will dare touch black money. Officials and  employees of all professions will be ensured dignified living conditions.

Separate wage structures will be introduced for those engaged in risky  professions," the Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer said.

Emphasising people's sovereignty, he said Jamaat does not seek party victory  alone. "We want the victory of 180 million people. If the people are free, we  will be free. But if the people fall into subservience, we too will fall into  danger," Dr. Rahman said.

Calling on voters to support the 'Yes' vote, he said, "The first seal on  February 12 must be for 'Yes'. 'Yes' means freedom, 'No' means subjugation.  If 'Yes' wins, Bangladesh wins; if it loses, Bangladesh loses."

Shafiqur Rahman said that if Jamaat gets the opportunity, governance would be  conducted in line with religious principles through consensus.

"Differences of opinion exist among Muslims, but decisions will be taken  through a common consultative platform," he said, urging the people of  Satkhira to stand for justice and against fascism in the upcoming election.

Referring to Satkhira's long-standing deprivation, he said the district had  been treated unfairly for years. "People here were punished simply for  standing on the side of justice. If you allow us to establish justice,  fairness, and people's governance in Satkhira's four constituencies, we will  remain forever grateful and strive tirelessly to repay that trust," he said.

On the election atmosphere, Dr. Rahman said a nationwide current in favour of  justice and change had already emerged. He claimed the youth had delivered  their verdict against corruption, authoritarianism, misgovernance, and the  humiliation of women, noting that students of various universities were also  standing for justice.

Addressing youth employment, he said providing unemployment allowances was  humiliating. "The state must transform youths into skilled citizens and  create opportunities for dignified work through proper education and  training," he continued.

On rising commodity prices, he blamed extortionists and syndicates for market  instability. "First, extortionists will be suppressed, then syndicates will  be dismantled. No syndicate will be allowed to exist," he added.

Jamaat chief said Jamaat leaders and activists have been clearly instructed  not to damage personal or state property. "Our activists have not engaged in  extortion or filed false cases. Legal action has been taken only against  those involved in crimes," he further said.

Mentioning repression over the past decade and a half, Dr. Rahman described  Jamaat as the country's most persecuted political party, citing killings,  enforced disappearances, executions, deregistration, and organisational bans.

He said journalists, religious scholars, and people from various professions  were also subjected to cases and harassment during this period, stressing  that justice must be restored to prevent victims of oppression from becoming  oppressors themselves.

Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar and Jamaat-nominated candidates  from Satkhira's four constituencies and leaders of the 11-party electoral  alliance addressed the rally, chaired by Satkhira district Jamaat Ameer  Shahidul Islam Mukul and conducted by its secretary general Azizur Rahman.
