JASHORE, Jan 27, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman today said that if the party comes to power, all legitimate demands of the people of Jashore, including those related to city corporation development, would be met without discrimination.
“There will be no discrimination in regard of implementing development programmes...No district will get excessive development projects neglecting others,” he told an election rally at Jashore Eidgah Maidan this morning.
Dr. Rahman called upon the voters to cast “Yes” vote to build a fascism-free Bangladesh and ensuring people-centered politics. He also urged administration to work for the people rather than any particular political party.
“Cast your vote for Jamaat-e-Islami candidates to protect the people from syndicate and extortion,” he said adding despite 17 years of oppression, we have remained committed to serving the people.
The Jamaat Chief criticized rival parties for filing indiscriminate lawsuit against political opponents and said Jamaat’s disciplined leaders are capable of running the country efficiently.
He warned that anyone trying to steer the country back toward fascism would be opposed with faith and resolve.
“Under Jamaat rule, youth would receive skill-based employment instead of handouts…Mothers and sisters would enjoy security and respect in all spheres, and citizens of all religions would freely follow their customs and dress,” he added.
Dr. Rahman said Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, if voted to power, will work for creating respectable job opportunities for the unemployed people especially the young people.
Stressing the need for ensuring people-centered politics instead of family-or faction-based politics, he said that the upcoming election is not merely a battle for power but an opportunity to reshape the nation’s political course through the people.
About referendum, Jamaat Ameer said the referendum is not merely a party victory but the triumph of 180 million people. “A ‘Yes’ vote means freedom, while ‘No’ represents slavery,” he said.
Jamaat Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Parwar, central executive committee members, and candidates from Jashore’s six constituencies also addressed the rally.
Dr. Rahman departed here for Satkhira and later planned to address rallies in Khulna and Bagerhat.
