Tarique Rahman seeks votes for ‘Dhaner Shish’ to change people’s fate

FENI, Jan 25, 2026 (BSS)- BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman today sought vote for the party’s election symbol ‘Dhaner Shish’ (Sheaf of Paddy) here to change people’s fate of the country. 

"I have come to Feni after many years. There is an emotional bond with Chattogram and a familiar bond with Feni. As you have demands from the BNP, the BNP also has demands from you. What demand? That demand is to ensure victory for the Sheaf of Paddy," he said.

Tarique Rahman said this while addressing an election rally as the chief guest at the Pilot Governmnet School field in the district town ahead of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad polls slated to be held on February 12.  

He said, "We do politics for the country's people…To work for the country's people, there must be a plan. The people are the source of all political power for BNP. I have come to the country after the fall of autocracy after 17 years. At that time, I made some plans.”

The BNP Chairman further said, "Insha'Allah, I will set up a medical college in Feni aimed at reaching the health care services to the doorsteps of people.”

Mentioning the devastating flood that caused havoc in Feni in 2024, he said, “One year ago, a sudden flood hit this area. Properties worth crores of Taka were damaged… If we come to power, we want to excavate canals in different areas across the country to protect Bangladesh from flash flood.”

On creating employment opportunities in the country, he said that he had a plan to create employment opportunities especially for the young generation as many youths have no job in the country. 

The BNP Chairman, also unveiled his another plan to establish an EPZ in the Feni region so that people of Feni can get jobs. 

“Steps have to be taken to arrange training programmes for those who want to go abroad for works aimed at enhance their skills,” he added. 

He sought all out cooperation from all concerned to implement all these plans.

The BNP Chairman further said, "Many things can be said against political opponents. That will not benefit the people. People will benefit when they get family cards, farmer cards and when law and order improves; and when an elected government comes to power in the country, law and order will improve. The people of the country want change. With change, problems will gradually decrease. If the Sheaf of Paddy is elected, the fate of the country's people will change."

Introducing the Sheaf of Paddy candidates from Greater Noakhali, he said, "For a long 17 years, there were no elected representatives in the country. Today, I leave them in your hands. Vote and elect them. You can tell them your joys and sorrows. You will inform them of your problems, and they will be obligated to solve them."

Chaired by District BNP Convener Sheikh Farid Bahar, the programme was conducted by Member Secretary Alal Uddin Alal.

Among the BNP nominated candidates in the district, Mohammad Shahjahan, Abdul Awal Mintu, Abul Khayer Bhuiyan, Joynul Abedin Faruq, Prof. Jeynul Abedin (VP Joynal), Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon, Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, ABM Ashraf Uddin Nizan,Rafiqul Alam Nazmul, Mohammad Fakhrul Islam and and Shahadat Hossain Selim addressed the rally.

BNP central leader Dr. Rafiqul Islam, Rehana Akter Ranu, Harunur Rashid, Belal Ahmed, Shahabuddin Shabu, Shahana Akhtar Sanu, Adv Mezbah Uddin Khan, Abdul Latif Jani, Tabith Awal, M Abu Taleb, among others, spoke on the occasion.
