Candidates begin election campaign in Lakshmipur

LAKSHMIPUR, Jan 22, 2026 (BSS) - Election campaign has formally begun in Lakshmipur district, with 29 candidates from four parliamentary constituencies starting door-to-door outreach to voters.

On Thursday afternoon, BNP candidate for Lakshmipur Sadar constituency, Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, launched his campaign in Ward No- 8 of the municipal area, accompanied by party leaders and activists. 

On the same day, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate for the constituency, Dr. Rezaul Karim, began his campaign in the Kusakhali area of Sadar upazila with party supporters.

Campaign activities are also underway in the district's other three constituencies, creating a festive atmosphere across the district. The Sadar constituency alone has a total of 434,605 voters, with six candidates contesting the seat.

Talking to journalists, BNP candidate Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie said voters had been deprived of voting opportunities for a long time and expressed confidence that public enthusiasm would be reflected at the polls.

He added that, if elected, he would continue to work for the welfare of the people, as he had in the past.

Election campaign is expected to intensify in the coming days as candidates seek to secure voter support across the district.
