DHAKA, Jan 21, 2026 (BSS) - BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman offered prayers at the shrine of Hazrat Shah Jalal (RA) in Sylhet today.

The BNP chief reached the shrine at 9:05pm and performed the Nafl prayer here. After performing the prayers, he visited the grave of the former Chief of Staff of the Liberation War Late General (Retd.) M A G Osmani at 9:30pm, said BNP media cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan.

Tarique Rahman's wife Dr Zubaida Rahman and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, among other senior party leaders, were present during the visit.

Earlier, Tarique Rahman arrived in Sylhet at 8:04pm to begin the party's campaign for the 13th national parliamentary election formally from the holy city.

He will address the party's grand election rally at Sylhet Govt Alia Madrasa ground tomorrow morning. 

Subsequently, he will attend rallies in Sylhet, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Brahmanbaria, Kishoreganj and Narsingdi tomorrow.

The Moulvibazar election rally will be held at Sherpur Ainpur playground at Sadar Upazila. From there he will go to Habigonj and deliver speech at a rally at Shayestaganj Upazila.

In the afternoon, he will attend rallies at the Kuttapara football ground in Sarail Upazila of Brahmanbaria district. Later he will address a rally at Bhairab Stadium in Kishoreganj. From there, he will participate in a rally at the ground adjacent to the Narsingdi Municipal Park.

On way to Dhaka at night he will address an election rally in Narayanganj.
