PATUAKHALI, Jan 20, 2026 (BSS) - Foreign Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain today said government officials must demonstrate neutrality through their actions, not merely through words, ahead of the upcoming national parliamentary election.

Speaking at an exchange of views meeting with district-level officials at the Patuakhali district administration conference room, the Foreign Adviser underscored the importance of impartial conduct in the run-up to the 2026 national parliamentary election and referendum slated for February 12.

"Even if there is no consensus on all issues, people will stand in favour of 'Yes' in the referendum for the necessary reforms of the state," he said.

The adviser noted that a large number of foreign observers will be present to help ensure transparency, acceptability, and neutrality in the upcoming national parliamentary election.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shahid Hossain Chowdhury.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Md. Abul Yusuf and election-related officials from various departments were also present.
