DHAKA, Jan 20, 2026 (BSS) – Postal ballots have reached the addresses of 373,398 expatriate voters residing in different countries across the world to cast their votes in the upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad election and referendum.
Among them, 196,625 voters have already scanned the QR code, according to Election Commission (EC).
Expatriate voters registered for postal ballots will be able to exercise their voting rights and send their ballots back to Bangladesh from January 21, after the allocation of election symbols.
Salim Ahmad Khan, Team Leader of the ‘OCV-SDI’ project on expatriate voter registration, told BSS that “So far, postal ballots have been sent to 373,398 expatriates’ addresses. However, 5,126 ballots have returned to Bangladesh due to incorrect addresses or voters not being found at the given addresses.”
Earlier, the EC had completed sending postal ballots to 767,028 expatriate voters living in 121 countries.
According to EC data, a total of 15,33,683 voters at home and abroad have registered through the “Postal Vote BD” app.
Election officials said that after the allocation of symbols, expatriate voters must cast their votes on postal ballots and send them by mail to the office of the returning officer of their respective constituencies in Bangladesh.
