KHAGRACHHARI, Jan 14, 2026 (BSS) - The two-day 'Election Journalism Training'
for local journalists began here today emphasizing the importance of
responsible and impartial reporting during the election period.
Shefalika Tripura, chairman of the District Council, inaugurated the
programme as the chief guest at the conference room of the Khagrachhari Hill
District Council.
Kazi Md. Touhidul Anwar, director (Administration) of the Press Institute
Bangladesh (PIB), moderated the event while PIB trainer Zilhaj Uddin Nipun
participated as special guest and discussant.
In her inaugural speech, Shefalika Tripura highlighted the importance of
elections. She emphasized that journalists play a crucial role during this
period by reporting news with truth, impartiality, and professionalism.
"Journalists build bridges of trust with the public. Their role in preventing
rumors, misinformation, and confusion during elections is indispensable. Such
training will further strengthen democracy," she added.
The training focuses on responsible reporting during elections and offers
guidance to journalists on ethics, laws, responsibilities, challenges, and
practical experiences.
A total of 50 journalists from eight upazilas, including the district
headquarters, are participating in the two-day training programme.
