DHAKA, Sept 12, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today placed Ajit Ghosh Kanai, a
leader of the city's Kotwali thana Awami League (AL), whose activities are
banned, on a two-day remand in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sarah Farzana Haque passed the order as police
produced him before the court and pleaded for a seven-day remand in the case.

Police arrested Ajit from the Goal Nagar area in the old part of the capital
on September 11.

According to the case documents, around 100-150 Awami League and banned
Bangladesh Chhatra League activists brought out a rally in the lower court
area on July 26. They allegedly gathered there to hatch a conspiracy to carry
out sabotage.

Police later filed the case with Kotwali Police Station.
