DHAKA, Aug 03, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today placed Sohel Rana on a two-day remand in a case lodged over the murder of his wife, dentist Sarah Roksana Pinu in Faydabad area under Dakkhinkhan in the capital.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Aminul Islam Junaid passed the order this afternoon.
Police had produced Sohel Rana before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Hasan Shahdat on August 1 and pleaded for a seven-day remand in the case. The court had then fixed today for hearing on the remand petition.
According to the case statement, Sohel left their residence at around 11:20am on July 30 after dropping their daughter at school and went to his office, leaving Pinu at home alone.
When no one arrived to pick up the child after school, she returned home by herself and found the main door closed but unlocked. Entering the house, she discovered her mother lying motionless on the bed with a pillow covering her face.
After removing the pillow, the child found her mother's hands and feet cold and realised she was not breathing. She then returned to her school and informed her father about the incident using the principal's mobile phone.
Later, a murder case was filed with Dakkhinkhan Police Station over the incident.
