Two to die in separate murder cases in Tangail

TANGAIL, July 22, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced two people to
death in separate murder cases in the district.

District and Sessions Judge Md. Hafizur Rahman and Special Judge Dilara Alo

finding the allegations against them unproven.

The convicts are Nazirul Islam Jihad, 28, son of Mofizul Haque of Garabari
village in Bhuapur upazila and Sohrab Hossain of Borni village in Delduar
upazila.

According to the case records, on June 18, 2020, Mehdi Mostafa Rajib was
murdered in Kharabari village of Bhuapur following a dispute. After a lengthy
trial and examination of testimony from 15 prosecution witnesses, the court

In the other case, on the night of May 5, 2021, Hazera Begum, 60, her
daughter Nasrin Akter, 22, and her nephew Mostafa went to sleep in the same
room after having dinner at their home in South Para village of Delduar.

that Hazera Begum and Nasrin were missing. During a search, their bodies were
discovered in a jute field about 200 yards from the house.

Police recovered the bodies, and Hazera Begum's son, Mosharraf Hossain, later
filed a murder case with Delduar Police Station. Following the trial, the
Special Judge's Court found Sohrab Hossain guilty of the killings and
sentenced him to death.
