FARIDPUR, July 21, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced two persons to life imprisonment for the murder of 15-year-old autorickshaw driver Naim Sheikh, who was killed in 2022 in an alleged robbery of his vehicle.
The convicts are Asmat Sheikh and Sagar Molla. Another accused, Ashik Sheikh, is being tried separately in the Juvenile Court as he was a minor at the time of the incident.
District and Sessions Judge (Family Appellate Court) Ashok Kumar Dutta delivered the verdict in presence of the convicted men, Public Prosecutor Advocate Md. Azizur Rahman confirmed.
According to prosecution, Naim Sheikh, the youngest son of Md. Shamchu Sheikh of Goaler Tila in Char Madhabdia, Faridpur, was strangled with a towel on April 21, 2022, in an attempt to rob his auto-rickshaw. After the murder, the perpetrators buried his body in the ground to conceal the crime.
The following day, April 22, 2022, the victim's brother, Rased Sheikh, filed a murder case with Faridpur Kotwali Police Station. The case named Asmat Sheikh, Ashik Sheikh, and Sagar Molla as the accused.
The investigating officer submitted the charge sheet to the court on May 15, 2022. After extensive hearings, witness testimonies, and examination of evidence, the court found the charges proven and handed down the verdict.
