THAKURGAON, June 30, 2026 (BSS)  -  A court here today sentenced a man to life-term imprisonment for raping a speech-impaired minor girl in Ranishankail upazila .

Judge Ali Mansur of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal of Thakurgaon pronounced the verdict against Abdul Momin, 41, son of late Jalal Bairagi alias Pramanik of Bhangbari area in Ranishankail upazila of the district.

The court also fined him Taka two lakh, in default, he will have to serve another year in jail.

According to the case details, on the night of October 22, 2015, the convict entered the house of the 14-year-old speech-impaired girl in Bhangbari area while she was alone and raped her.

Later, a case was filed with Ranishankail police station.
