DHAKA, June 11, 2026 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today placed three people on one-
day remand each in a case filed over the murder of Swechchhasebak Dal leader
Billal Hossain.
The remanded accused are: Rezaul Karim, Siraj Lutfor Rahman and Istiak Ali
Rakib.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Hossain Mohammad Zunayed
passed the order as police produced the trio before the court and pleaded to
place them on a 10-day remand each.
Earlier on June 10, another court placed Riajul Hasan and Al Amin Mahin on a
four-day remand each.
According to the case documents, Billal Hossain used to run a business at
Arafat Market in the Ramna area and had a longstanding dispute with some
individuals, including Didarul Islam Babu.
On the evening of June 8, Babu allegedly called Billal to the rear of the
market, where he and his associates assaulted and stabbed him
indiscriminately.
The attackers left the scene, leaving Billal critically injured. Locals later
rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he was declared dead
around 9:45 pm.
Billal's wife, Asia Khatun, filed the case on June 9 with Ramna Police
Station against 21 named individuals, including Didarul Islam Babu, and 7-8
unidentified others.
