DHAKA, May 25, 2026 (BSS) – A court here today sent Md Shihab Hossain, a student of Alokito Quran International Hifz Madrasah, to jail in a case filed over the alleged rape of a 10-year-old fellow student and instigation of the victim to commit suicide in the capital’s Banasree area.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Hasib Ullah Pias passed the order as the police produced the accused before the court after the end of his five-day remand in the case and pleaded to keep him behind bars till the conclusion of the probe.

Police arrested Shihab from Pabna on May 19, and the court on May 21 placed him on a five-day remand.

Police on May 18 recovered the body of the 10-year-old victim hanging by his neck from the madrasa, and later found that the boy had been raped for some time. In the primary investigation, it was found that Shihab had been raping his junior students.

The victim’s mother filed the case with the Rampura Police Station on May 20.
