NOAKHALI, April 29, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced a private tutor to death for the brutal murder of 14-year-old schoolgirl Tasnia Hossain Adita in Noakhali municipality in 2022.

The verdict concluded that the accused killed the victim after failing in an attempted rape and trying to conceal the crime.

Judge Mohammad Khorshedul Alam Sikder of the Women and Child Abuse Prevention Tribunal-1 delivered the verdict at noon, Public Prosecutor of the court Md. Selim Shahi confirmed.

Convict Abdur Rahim Roni, 30, a former coaching teacher of the victim, was found guilty after a lengthy trial that included testimony from 41 prosecution witnesses and five defense witnesses.

According to prosecution, On September 22, 2022, police recovered the bloodshed body of Adita from her home in Laxminarayanpur area of Noakhali Municipality. Her throat, hands, and legs had been cut.

Police arrested Roni the same night. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime and later gave a statement before the court under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
