Over 30,000 people receive legal aid thru Supreme Court Legal Aid 

DHAKA, March 8, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 30,316 people have received legal services at government expense through the Supreme Court Legal Aid Office.

The information was revealed in a report published on the website of the National Legal Aid Services Organization (NLASO). 

The report presented a detailed overview of the overall legal aid activities from 2009 to January 2026.

According to the report, the Supreme Court Legal Aid Office formally began its operations on September 8, 2015. Since then, until January 2026, a total of 30,316 people have received legal assistance through the office.

Among them, 26,946 people received legal advice services, while legal aid was provided in 3,370 cases. Of these cases, 2,308 have already been disposed of.

The legal aid services are being provided at government expense under the Legal Aid Services Act to support financially insolvent and disadvantaged justice seekers.

The National Legal Aid Services Organization is implementing the programme under the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
