SANGSAD BHABAN, July 7, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 8,099 posts remain vacant in different government cadres, and the government has adopted short, medium and long-term plans to fill the vacancies quickly and accelerate recruitment in the public service, State Minister for Public Administration Md. Abdul Bari told parliament today.
He disclosed this while responding to a starred question from opposition lawmaker Md. Anwarul Islam of Jamaat-e-Islami, representing Kurigram-1, in the Jatiya Sangsad.
The state minister said the government has already completed the written and viva examinations for the 45th, 46th and 47th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examinations, while the written examination of the 50th BCS has also been completed. “Once these recruitment processes are finalized, the vacant cadre posts will be filled expeditiously,”
He said the government has formulated six-month, one-year and five-year action plans to fill vacant posts and help reduce unemployment.
As part of the initiative to recruit five lakh government employees in a transparent and speedy manner, the Ministry of Public Administration has asked all ministries and divisions to submit updated information on vacant posts, the latest status of recruitment and requisitions for appointments, he added.
The state minister further said all ministries and divisions have also been requested to prepare time-bound action plans for issuing recruitment circulars and completing appointments against the vacant posts at the earliest possible time.
