KYIV, Ukraine, Sept 9, 2026 (BSS/AFP) - A Russian drone strike killed civilians at a checkpoint on Ukraine's border with Moldova, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine said on Wednesday.

"During the night, Russia attacked the Starokozache international road checkpoint on the border with Moldova with strike UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles)," the service wrote on Telegram.

The strike killed and wounded civilians who were near the checkpoint and caused fires, it said, without specifying the number of people hurt.

The State Border Guard Service said the checkpoint was closed following the attack.
