RANGPUR, March 26, 2026 (BSS) – In a discussion meeting today, literary and socio-cultural figures called on every citizen, regardless of profession, caste, or religion, to work together to fulfill the dreams of the martyrs of the Liberation War.
They made the call at the discussion arranged in a special programme organised by Rangpur Sahitya-Sanskriti Parishad (RSSP) at its office on the Town Hall premises on the occasion of Independence and National Day-2026.
Earlier, leaders of the reputed literary and sociocultural organisation of the metropolis laid wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar in the morning to pay tribute to the Liberation War martyrs before attending the special programme.
At the beginning, a minute of silence was observed in honor of those who were martyred in the War of Liberation while snatching away the hard-earned independence from the Pakistani occupation forces.
Former president of RSSP and literary personality Swattik Shah Al Maruf presided over the discussion titled ‘On the spirit of the great liberation war, sacrifice and what we should do’.
Distinguished writer and educationist Professor Mohammad Shah Alam, RSSP Adviser and writer Advocate Masum Hasan, poet, storyteller, novelist Nargis Akhter Banu, banker Mossarraf Hossain, writer Jahangir Alam and RSSP General Secretary Mamun Ur Rashid participated in the discussion.
Swattik Shah Al Maruf, Sufi Zahid Hossain, Kabya Russell read their self-composed poems dedicated to the unparallel heroic and supreme sacrifice of the martyrs of the War of Liberation.
Professor Mohammad Shah Alam and Mehedi Masud participated in the poetry recitation.
Later, the cover of the RSSP mouthpiece Rangpur Sahitya Patra (Great Independence and National Day -2026 issue) was unveiled at the event.
RSSP Assistant Literary Secretary Mehedi Masud moderated the entire programme.
A large number of RSSP members, poets, writers, educationists, musicians, composers, artists, singers, and cultural figures were present at the event.
