DHAKA, May 5, 2025 (BSS)- The Youth Festival 2025, which was introduced by
the present government for the first time, held in the beginning of this year
with great enthusiasm and record participation of athletes across the
country.
The festival of Youth saw noteworthy engagement from both men and women
athletes with a particular emphasis on promoting sports and cultural
activities.
Center-back Topu Barman thinks that this Festival of Youth has been an
effective step taken by the present government to take sports towards
development.
Talking to BSS, Topu said: "Definitely this is a positive step taken by the
present government to take the sports towards development. I think it'll not
only encourage the budding athletes but also encourage their family because
when they get a big platform at such a young age, I think it'll enhance their
interest in sports."
The youth athletes, who live outside of Dhaka, are generally more interested
in sports, especially, football, cricket and hockey and if this "Festival of
Youth" can be continued, a good benefit would be obtained at national and
international level in the future, he said.
Topu said the talented players after initially selected from the "Festival of
Youth", need better quality training three to six month because when a
sportsman is selected on the basis of talent, he needs better training to
develop into a complete sportsman.
The center-back footballer said: "Basic techniques need to be learned at a
young age and I think the "Festival of Youth" can be a right platform to
learn this skill so that better player can come out for the country.
Topu further said the government has taken a positive step to introduce the
"Festival of Youth" and he emphasized that this kind of sports event needs to
be continued to bring out more talented players for the country in the
future.
