30.05pc Covid-19 positivity rate recorded in Rangpur division


 
  RANGPUR, July 19, 2021 (BSS) - Rangpur division recorded 30.05 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as 113 new cases were reported today after testing 376 samples at the two Covid-19 laboratories in the division.
 
  "The daily positivity rate mostly ranged between 25 percent and 30 percent during the last one week showing a little steady trend of the infection situation," said Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui.
 
  Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 26.75 percent on Sunday, 29.51 percent on Saturday, 28.11 percent on Friday, 19.57 percent on Thursday, 26.03 percent on Wednesday and 29.89 percent on Tuesday last in the division.
 
  Among the 113 new patients diagnosed today, 59 were reported positive after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.
 
  "The 59 new patients include 44 from Rangpur, three from Kurigram, one from Lalmonirhat and 11 from Gaibandha districts," Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 8 pm.
 
  On the other hand, 54 other new infected patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.
 
  "The 54 newly infected Covid-19 patients include 48 from Dinajpur, one from Thakurgaon and five from Nilphamari districts," said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain.
 
  Talking to BSS, Acting Divisional Director (Health) Dr Abu Md Zakirul Islam the number of Covid-19 patients climbed to 37,634 as 113 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.
 
  "The district-wise break up of the 37,634 infected patients stands at 8,276 in Rangpur, 2023 in Panchagarh, 2,798 in Nilphamari, 1,972 in Lalmonirhat, 2,653 in Kurigram, 5,137 in Thakurgaon, 11,260 in Dinajpur and 3,134 in Gaibandha of the division," he said.
