25.80pc Covid-19 positivity rate recorded in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, July 17, 2021 (BSS) - Rangpur division recorded 25.80 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as 97 new cases were reported today after testing 376 samples at the two Covid-19 laboratories in the division.
 
  "The daily positivity rate mostly ranged between 25 percent and 32 percent during the last one week showing a little improving trend of the infection situation," Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui told BSS.
 
  Earlier, the daily positivity rates were, 28.11 percent on Friday, 19.57 percent on Thursday, 26.03 percent on Wednesday, 29.89 percent on Tuesday, 31.84 percent on Monday and 31.44 percent on Sunday last in the division.
 
  Among the 97 new patients diagnosed today, 42 were reported positive after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.
 
  "The 42 new patients include 24 from Rangpur, six from Kurigram, two Lalmonirhat and 10 from Gaibandha districts," Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 6:38 pm.
 
  On the other hand, 55 other new infected patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.
 
  "The 55 newly infected Covid-19 patients include 43 from Dinajpur, nine from Thakurgaon and three from Nilphamari districts," said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain.
 
  Talking to BSS, Acting Divisional Director (Health) Dr Abu Md Zakirul Islam the number of Covid-19 patients climbed to 36,205 as 97 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.
 
  The district-wise break up of total 36,205 patients now stands at 7,869 in Rangpur, 1,867 in Panchagarh, 2,739 in Nilphamari, 1,935 in Lalmonirhat, 2,590 in Kurigram, 5,049 in Thakurgaon, 11,187 in Dinajpur and 2,969 in Gaibandha of the division.
