PABNA, Sept 11, 2026 (BSS) - Three children drowned in monsoon water in a field near their homes at Dashpara village of Nabhin Bazar area under Chartarapur Union of Pabna Sadar upazila at around 1:30pm today.

The deceased were Sumi Khatun, 7, daughter of Shimul Mallick of Dashpara village, and siblings Khalid Hossain, 8, and Afia Khatun, 6, son and daughter of Md. Ashraful Islam of the same village.

They were students of a local kindergarten school.

Locals said the children went to take a bath in monsoon water accumulated in a field near their homes on Friday afternoon.

At one point, one of the children drowned. While attempting to rescue the child, the other two also drowned one after another.

Later, local residents rescued the three children and rushed them towards Sujanagar Upazila Health Complex. However, all three died on the way to the hospital.

The incident has cast a pall of grief over the area. The atmosphere became deeply mournful as relatives broke down in grief.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pabna Sadar Police Station, Tarikul Islam, confirmed the incident and said police were sent to the spot after receiving the news.
