Janmashtami celebrated in Kachua with religious fervour

BAGERHAT, Aug 4, 2026 (BSS) - Janmashtami, the birth anniversary of Lord Sri Krishna, was celebrated in Kachua upazila with a religious discussion and a colourful procession.

The Kachua Upazila Central Sri Sri Radha Govinda Mandir and Upazila Temple Complex jointly organised the programme under the initiative of the Kachua upazila branch of the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Welfare Front.

Animesh Kanti Saha, president of the celebration committee, presided over the discussion, moderated by its General Secretary Pranoy Kanti Saha. Kachua Upazila Nirbahi Officer Amir Salman Rony attended as the chief guest.

Kachua Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Al Mamun, Upazila BNP General Secretary S M Touhidul Islam and Bangladesh Brahmin Sangsad Bagerhat District Branch Joint Convener R G Mona were present as special guests.

Local leaders and representatives of different organisations also attended the programme.

Following the discussion, devotees brought out a colourful religious procession from the upazila central temple. The procession paraded through the main roads before returning to the temple complex, where prasad was distributed among the devotees.

Various religious programmes were also scheduled at the temple at night.

In their speeches, the participants urged people to follow the timeless teachings and ideals of Lord Sri Krishna and work together to establish peace, harmony and justice in society.
