Two bakery shops fined in Chuadanga

CHUADANGA, Sept 1, 2026 (BSS) - Two bakery shops in Darshana of the district have been fined a total of Taka 70,000 for using unauthorized colors and industrial salt in food products.

The fine was imposed during a monitoring drive conducted from 11.00 am to 1.30 pm today in the Darshana Bazar area. The drive was led by Mohammad Mamunul Hasan, assistant director of the Chuadanga district office of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection.

According to the drive officials, inspections were carried out at various establishments in Darshana to ensure the quality of essential commodities and food items.

During the drive, the owner of Messrs Rimi Food, Jamal Mia, was fined Taka 10,000 for operating without valid trade and licenses and for using harmful unauthorized food colors and industrial salt in preparing food.

Muslim Fast Food and Bakery was fined Taka 60,000 for similar violations.

The two establishments were fined and the amount was realized on the spot.

The authorities also directed the businesses to update their sanitary licenses and other necessary documents within the shortest possible time and ensure hygienic conditions in their establishments.

Damurhuda Upazila Sanitary Inspector Niamat Ali, CAB representative Rafiqul Islam and a team of police assisted in the drive.
