334 bullets recovered during drain excavation in Bogura

BOGURA, Aug 30, 2026 (BSS) - Police recovered 334 bullets from underground soil while excavation work was underway for the construction of a drain near the boundary wall of Bogura Zilla School on Sunday.

Bogura Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ibrahim Ali said the workers discovered the cartridges while digging for the drain around 11 am.

"A total of 334 bullets have been recovered from the site and the origin and age of the recovered ammunition could not yet be confirmed," he said.

"Whether the bullets are from the Liberation War or were looted from a police station during the July uprising in 2024 will be known after examination," he 
said.

According to police and local sources, workers were carrying out excavation work in the morning as part of the Bogura City Corporation's master drain construction project.

At one stage, a worker spotted a metallic object buried in the soil on the southern side of the drain wall. He informed the other workers, who subsequently alerted the police.

A team from Bogura Sadar Police Station later rushed to the spot and recovered the bullets from the soil.

Bogura Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ibrahim Ali said the workers discovered the cartridges while digging for the drain.

"A total of 334 bullets have been recovered from the site," he said.

He added that further details would be disclosed later through the higher authorities.
