MADARIPUR, Aug 25, 2026 (BSS) - Five-year-old twin sisters drowned in a pond in Mollar Kandi village of Rajoir upazila in the district this afternoon.
 
The deceased were identified as Tabassum and Taharia, daughters of Nasir Uddin of Mollar Kandi village.
 
According to police and local residents, the twin sisters were playing near a pond beside their home at noon. At one point, they accidentally fell into the water.
 
Hearing about the incident, nearby residents quickly rescued the two children and took them to Rajoir Upazila Health Complex. However, the attending physician examined them and declared both sisters dead.
 
Sheikh Aminul Islam, officer-in-charge of Rajoir Police Station, confirmed the incident and said the bodies were handed over to relatives for burial.
