BAGERHAT, August 14, 2026 (BSS) - Police have arrested one of the suspects in the triple murder case that created a stir in Kachua upazila here in the district. 

The arrestee is Jahidul Howlader, a close relative of the deceaseds.

On information, the police carried out a drive and arrested Jahid from the Signboard Bazar area of Kachua upazila at around 11:10 pm on Thursday, said police sources.
 
Kachua Police Station officer Abdullah Al Mamun confirmed the arrest and said court subsequently sent the arrestee to jail. 

Operations are underway to unravel the mystery of the tripple murder and apprehend other involved in the case, said Mamun.

On August 4, police recovered the decomposed, bloodstained bodies of three members of the same family from a residential home in West Chanderkhola village in Kachua. 

The victims -- Ahad Hawladar (25), his mother Monira Begum (60) and his grandmother Rashida Begum (93) -- suffered severe blunt-force head trauma and sharp weapon injuries. Later, An un-named murder case was filed.
