RANGPUR, Aug 14, 2026 (BSS) - Various units of Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) today conducted special drills at key and sensitive points in the metropolis to strengthen preparedness against sabotage, crime and deterioration of law and order.
The drills were organised to enhance the police's capacity to respond to sabotage attempts, criminal and drug-related activities and activities of banned organisations, according to a press release.
The exercise was conducted under the overall direction of RpMP Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mabud and the leadership of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DB) Sanatan Chakraborty. Members of different RpMP units took part in the drills in large convoys.
The exercise focused on ensuring rapid deployment at important points, taking immediate legal action during emergencies, preventing criminal and sabotage activities, and protecting public safety.
As part of the exercise, a large police convoy was stationed at the Medical Intersection in the metropolis. The drill assessed the units' rapid deployment capabilities, coordination and readiness to respond to emergencies.
The press release said RpMP is carrying out its duties with utmost caution and professionalism to ensure public safety, maintain law and order, and prevent sabotage, drug-related and other criminal activities.
