BAGERHAT, Aug 14, 2026 (BSS) - The district police today conducted a large-scale exercise to demonstrate their preparedness to maintain law and order, prevent crime and respond to emergencies.
The drill began in the afternoon from the Bagerhat District Police Lines and was carried out simultaneously across all nine police stations in the district.
A large number of police personnel took part in the exercise on motorcycles, with sirens blaring as the convoy moved through key roads and locations in Bagerhat city. The procession passed the shrine area, Deputy Commissioner's office, Khulna-Bagerhat highway, bus stand, Daratana Bridge and Muniganj Bridge before returning through other parts of the city.
The unusual sight drew considerable attention, with hundreds of residents gathering along the roads to watch the exercise.
Bagerhat Superintendent of Police Hasan Mohammad Nasher Rikabdar led the exercise, accompanied by senior district police officials.
According to police, the exercise was aimed at strengthening operational readiness, improving coordination among different units and assessing their ability to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.
Police said the drill also sent a clear warning to people involved in drugs, terrorism and other criminal activities that law enforcement agencies remain vigilant and prepared to take action.
