SATKHIRA, Aug 12, 2026 (BSS) - A farmer was killed in a lightning strike while working in a paddy field in Shyamnagar upazila of the district this morning.

The deceased was identified as Md Lutfor Rahman, 55, son of late Ahad Ali of West Srifalkati village under Ishwaripur union of the upazila.

Lutfor was working at a paddy seedbed in the morning when lightning suddenly struck, killing him on the spot.

Shyamnagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shahidul Islam confirmed the matter.
