JAMALPUR, July 30, 2026 (BSS) - A week-long tree fair and tree plantation campaign began in the district today.

The District Administration and the Forest Department jointly organized the fair at the compound of the Office of the Assistant Commissioner (Land) in the town.

Local lawmaker, Advocate Shah Md Wares Ali Mamun, formally inaugurated the fair as the chief guest. 

He said tree plantation is essential for protecting the environment. He also said it has many advantages; people from all walks of life should come forward to support a social campaign. 

Also, Assistant Organizing Secretary of BNP, Mamun, said Prime Minister Tariq Rahman in 31 points charter has given emphasis on planting trees across the country. He also stressed proper nursing of trees after planting.

A discussion meeting was held at the fair compound, with Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Yusuf Ali in the chair.

Additional Superintendent of Police, Rakibul Islam, Medical Officer, Dr Mubashshira Huq and Mymensingh Divisional Forest Officer, Kazi Muhammad Nurul Karim spoke among others at the meeting.

A total of 30 stalls of various trees were set up in the fair.
