RANGPUR, July 29, 2026 (BSS) - Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) has arrested 32 people accused in various cases and seized a large quantity of smuggled Indian goods and narcotics in the last 24-hour special operations conducted in the metropolis.
On the instructions of RpMP Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mabud, the special raids were conducted by various units of RpMP and achieved significant success in curbing crime and preventing smuggling and drug sale and consumption.
Under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DB) of RpMP Sanatan Chakraborty, a DB police team seized 1,50,000 sticks of fake bidis in six bags from the City Bazar area of the city at 6 am today.
One Lavlu, 28, son of Saidur Rahman of village Benughat under Haragachh police station of RpMP in the metropolis has been arrested in this incident.
In another special raid conducted under the supervision of Sanatan Chakraborty, the DB police seized 15 bags of smuggled Indian cosmetics and toothpastes, nine bags of Indian clothes, 23 bags of fake cigarettes of different brands, two bags of fake Akij bidis and 50 Yaba tablets from the Fire Service Intersection in the city today.
In addition, different units of the RpMP in separate raids arrested 32 suspects involved in various crimes from different areas of Rangpur metropolis in the last 24 hours.
RpMP Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mabud said that such special operations will continue regularly to maintain law and order, suppress smuggling, drugs and all types of crimes across the metropolis.
