Gazipur MPs, govt employees to donate salaries to PM's Relief Fund

GAZIPUR, July 12, 2026 (BSS) – Members of Parliament from all five constituencies of Gazipur district and government officials and employees have decided to donate part of their salaries to the Prime Minister's Relief and Welfare Fund to support relief and rehabilitation efforts for flood-affected people.

The decision was taken unanimously at the district law and order committee's regular monthly meeting held today at the Bhawal Conference Room of the Deputy Commissioner's office.

Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Md Nurul Karim Bhuiyan chaired the meeting.
At the meeting, Gazipur-5 lawmaker AKM Fazlul Haque Milon announced that he would donate one month's basic salary to the Prime Minister's Relief and Welfare Fund in view of the ongoing devastating floods.

Following his announcement, lawmakers representing the district's five parliamentary constituencies agreed to donate their one month's full salary to the fund.

The meeting also decided that government officials and employees working in the district would contribute one day's basic salary to the Prime Minister's Relief and Welfare Fund.
The contributions will be collected within the next three working days and sent to the Prime Minister's Relief and Welfare Fund.

Deputy Commissioner Md Nurul Karim Bhuiyan immediately expressed support for the initiative, while heads of various government offices in the district also pledged participation on behalf of the officials and employees of their respective departments.

Those concerned expressed hope that the joint humanitarian initiative by Gazipur's public representatives and government officials would serve as an example for other districts in extending support to the people,  affected by the floods.
