Exchange meeting held on RCC’s healthcare and waste management activities

RAJSHAHI, July 09, 2026 (BSS)- An exchange meeting was held with fourth-year students of the Department of Community Medicine and Public Health at Barind Medical College on the occasion of their visit to the healthcare and waste management activities of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC). 

The meeting was held today at the Annex Conference Room of Nagar Bhaban. It was presided over by RCC Secretary Sohel Rana. 
During the exchange meeting, presentations were made on RCC’s healthcare and sanitation activities. 

RCC Chief Health Officer Dr. Anjuman Ara Begum presented on health-related information while Deputy Chief Sanitation Officer Selim Reza Ranju presented on sanitation activities.

The presentations covered RCC’s department-wise organogram, healthcare activities, EPI program, primary healthcare activities, services of City Hospital, sanitation activities, city waste management, medical waste management, and tree plantation and maintenance activities in detail. 

At the event, RCC’s achievements in various sectors were highlighted, including the environment of the Rajshahi city area, tree plantation, birth registration, and vaccination. 

In his remarks as chair, RCC Secretary Sohel Rana said overall work including cleanliness, greening, environmental, and infrastructural development is progressing rapidly. 

Rajshahi City Corporation is one of the pioneers in the country in waste management. Rajshahi is the best in terms of cleanliness and beauty, he said. 

He said, work on implementing a new project to further modernize waste management activities is underway. Once implemented, waste management activities will advance another step. 

The exchange meeting was moderated by Food and Sanitation Officer Sheikh Ariful Haque. Professor Dr. Entekhab Ul Alam of Barind Medical College Hospital, Assistant Professor Dr. Raihan Manjur, Lecturers Dr. Md. Minrul Islam and Dr. Asif Azizi, and City Hospital Resident Physician Tarikul Islam Boni were present.

Fourth-year students of the Department of Community Medicine and Public Health at Barind Medical College, along with relevant officials from RCC’s Health Department and Sanitation Department attended the program.
