RAJSHAHI, July 7, 2026 (BSS) - A discussion meeting of bakery owners was held in Rajshahi to promote the overall development of North Bengal's bakery industry, resolve business problems, ensure food safety, and establish quality production systems.
The Rajshahi District Bakery Owners Association organized the meeting on Monday afternoon at Amana Food Village in the city's Kumarpara area.
The chief guest at the meeting was Mohammad Jalal Uddin, President of the Bangladesh Bread, Biscuit & Confectionery Manufacturers Association.
Special guests who spoke included Rezaul Haque Reju, General Secretary of the organization, Hasan Ali Alal, President of the North Bengal Bakery Owners Association and Hasan Farukh, Organizing Secretary of the Rangpur District Bakery Owners Association.
Liaquat Ali, Editor of the Daily Sonali Sangbad, Akbarul Hasan Millat, Editor of the Daily Sonar Desh, and Sekendar Ali, General Secretary of the North Bengal Bakery Owners Association, were also present.
The meeting was presided over by Selim Reza, President of the Rajshahi District Bakery Owners Association.
He said that conducting business in coordination with the administration is essential. However, if there is any irregularity or injustice, it must be confronted collectively through the organisation Selim Reza added.
Mohammad Jalal Uddin said that the bakery industry is a promising and important sector in the economy of the northern region. To sustain this industry, the strength of the organization must be used effectively, he added.
He emphasized that any crisis can be addressed through unified decisions and collective initiatives.
Speakers said the bakery industry is currently facing multiple challenges. Rising raw material prices, increased production costs, pressure to produce quality and safe food, and various complexities in business operations are affecting entrepreneurs in this sector.
To resolve these problems, bakery owners must work in a more organized and united manner.
The meeting called for coordinated initiatives from relevant government departments, business organizations, and entrepreneurs to make North Bengal's bakery industry modern, quality-focused, and competitive.
Speakers also emphasized ensuring food safety and delivering quality products to consumers.
The meeting emphasized business development, ensuring fairness, safe food production, and collective decision-making through organisational unity.
Only by remaining organised, can business owners protect their rights and secure the future of the bakery industry, the speakers added.
Bakery owners, businesspeople, organization leaders, and media representatives from Rajshahi and various other districts of North Bengal were present at the discussion meeting.
