KHULNA, June 14, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 21 people were arrested in a special
joint operation today conducted by the Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) to
maintain law and order, ensure public safety, and curb criminal activities in
the city.
According to a KMP press release issued on Sunday, the operation was carried
out across different parts of the metropolis from 6 pm on June 13 to 10 am on
June 14 under the overall directives of the Police Commissioner.
The arrestees include six from Khulna Police Station area, five from
Sonadanga Model Police Station, three from Labanchara, one from Harintana,
two from Khalishpur, one from Daulatpur, one from Arongghata and one from
Khan Jahan Ali Police Station were held by the different police personnel by
concerned police stations and one was detained from Sadar thana area of the
district by the Detective Branch (DB) of police.
KMP sources said legal proceedings against the detainees are underway in
connection with various allegations and cases filed at the respective police
stations.
The press release said police operations against terrorism, extortion, drug
trafficking, mugging, and other criminal activities would continue to ensure
the safety of city residents and maintain a peaceful law-and-order situation.
KMP also urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by
providing information on criminal activities to help strengthen crime
prevention efforts.
