JASSORE, May 23, 2026 (BSS) - At least four people, including a child, were killed and another was injured in a road accident on the Jassore-Khulna highway in Sadar upazila today.
The accident occurred in front of Chaulia Fuel Station in Rupdia area at noon.
The deceased were identified as easy-bike driver Mohammad Ayub Ali, 43, son of late Hasan Ali Molla of Ghunipurbpara village, Brishti Saha, 24, wife of Sujan Saha of Ghoragacha Sahapara village, her four-year-old son Souvik Saha and van driver Anwar Ali, 70, son of late Kalu Sheikh of Chaulia village.
Witnesses said a Khulna-bound covered van lost control near Chaulia Fuel Station and rammed into an easy-bike and an engine-run van. Easy-bike driver Ayub Ali and passenger Brishti Saha died on the spot after being crushed under the vehicle.
Locals rescued three critically injured victims and rushed them to Jassore General Hospital where Anwar Ali and child Souvik Saha succumbed to their injuries.
Medical Officer at Jassore General Hospital Dr. Shakirul Islam said another injured person, identified as Sajjad Hossain, 28, remains under treatment and is in critical condition.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jassore Kotwali Police Station Masum Khan said the bodies were sent to Jassore General Hospital morgue for autopsy. The covered van has been taken into police custody and legal proceedings are underway, he added.
