LAKSHMIPUR, May 22, 2026 (BSS) - A man was killed in a head-on collision between two battery-powered auto-rickshaws on Hajirhat-Matabbar Hat road in Kamalnagar upazila of the district this afternoon.

The deceased, Nurul Islam, 67, son of late Abdur Rashid, was a resident of Char Jagabandhu village in Kamalnagar upazila.

According to family sources, he earned his livelihood by fishing in the Meghna River. The victim's nephew, Miraj Hossain, confirmed the incident.

Officer-in-Charge of Kamalnagar Police Station, Faridul Alam, confirmed the accident saying if the victim's family files a written complaint, necessary legal action will be taken following an investigation.
