KHULNA, May 22, 2026 (BSS) - Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-6 arrested two alleged drug traders along with a large quantity of contraband cough syrup and phensedyl in Maheshpur upazila of Jhenaidah early today.

A RAB-6 press release said acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-6, CPC-2, Jhenaidah set up a check-post in front of Mofiz Uddin Academy High School at Samanta village under Maheshpur Police Station around 5.45 am.

During the drive, the elite force stopped a motorcycle carrying two persons and searched two sacks in their possession in the presence of witnesses.

The RAB team recovered 596 bottles of 'Skaf' cough syrup and 20 bottles of phensedyl from the sacks and seized the motorcycle used for transporting the contraband.

The arrested persons were identified as Md. Sabuj Hossain, 33, son of Md. Shafiqul Islam of Jadabpur village, and Mohasin Ali, 32, son of Md. Haidar Ali of Betberi village under Maheshpur upazila.

The recovered drugs, along with the arrested persons and the seized motorcycle, were handed over to Maheshpur Police Station for taking legal action.
