HABIGANJ April 27, 2026 (BSS) - A farmer was killed in a lightning strike at Naogaon village under Nabiganj upazila of the district on Monday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Maksud Mia, 35, son of late Shabar Ullah of the same village.

The incident took place around 4 pm when Maksud was going to bring cows from the haor area near his house. A sudden storm and rain started and he was struck by lightning. He died on the spot.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nabiganj Police Station Md. Monayem Mia confirmed the matter.
