NAOGAON, April 24, 2026 (BSS) - National Nutrition Week 2026 was observed with community participation in Porsha, Sapahar and Niamatpur upazilas, highlighting a renewed commitment to nutrition awareness and healthy living.
The respective upazila administrations and health complexes organized the programmes on Thursday, while community-level campaigns were conducted under the Climate Action at Local Level (CALL) project.
The project is being implemented by Caritas Bangladesh with technical support from the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) and financial assistance from the Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh.
The week-long observance featured rallies and discussion meetings involving government officials, community leaders and local stakeholders.
Speakers emphasized that proper nutrition is essential for building a healthy and productive nation and stressed the need to ensure balanced diets, particularly for children, adolescents and pregnant women.
They also highlighted the importance of increasing the production and consumption of nutritious foods, discouraging unhealthy dietary habits, and promoting nutrition-sensitive agriculture alongside household-level awareness.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rakibul Islam, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Nazir Ahmed, Upazila Agriculture Officer Mamunor Rashid, law enforcement representatives and CALL Project Manager Abul Bashar Mollah attended the events.
Under the slogan "Eat Well, Live Well," awareness campaigns engaged local residents through interactive sessions, encouraging informed food choices and behavioural change.
