RAJSHAHI, April 22, 2026 (BSS) - To increase fish production, expand
technology adoption, and encourage farmers to use modern methods, an
initiative has been taken to establish a carp polyculture demonstration farm
in Paba upazila of Rajshahi.
As part of this program under the "Technology Service Expansion Project at
Union Level (3rd Phase)" for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, necessary fish
farming inputs were distributed among 4 fish farmers of the upazila.
The event, organized by the Upazila Fisheries Office today, was presided over
by Paba Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ibnul Abedin.
He said, "Carp polyculture is currently a profitable and sustainable fish
production method. Through this, it is possible to increase production by
farming different species of fish in the same pond. This type of
demonstration will encourage farmers to adopt new technology."
The distributed inputs included one aerator, 32 kg of lime, one rotenone, and
one signboard.
Concerned officials said that using these inputs, farmers will be able to
manage ponds scientifically, which will play an important role in increasing
fish growth and production.
Present at the event were Abdur Razzak, Member Secretary of Paba Upazila BNP;
Sultan Ahmed, Joint Convener; Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer Md. Wali Ullah
Mollah; Field Assistant Takir Hossain and other local dignitaries.
They expressed hope that this initiative will bring positive change to the
fisheries sector in the area.
Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer Wali Ullah Mollah said that establishing
carp polyculture demonstrations creates opportunities for hands-on field
training, which is highly effective for ordinary farmers.
Through this, farmers can easily learn new technology and management methods
and apply them to their own farms.
He believes such initiatives not only increase production but also help
strengthen the rural economy.
He added that more farmers will come under this type of support in the future
and domestic fish production will increase.
